A special members meeting was held on February 19, 2026 to vote on a resolution to incorporate under the NB Companies Act.
The Resolution was passed unanimously by the members in attendance.
The Resolution
WHEREAS Orienteering New Brunswick is a Provincial Sport Organization with the primary objectives to promote, develop, and encourage orienteering in the Province of New Brunswick, and to liaise with government and private agencies, organizations, or other spotting groups interested in promoting and supporting Orienteering New Brunswick, and to assist in the establishment of orienteering groups throughout the Province of New Brunswick, and to promote competitive as well as recreational orienteering, and to communicate information to its members, and to act as a form for the exchange of member’s views;
AND WHEREAS it is a requirement of the Sport and Recreation branch of the Department of Tourism, Heritage, and Culture that Provincial Sport Organizations be incorporated under constating legislation to receive core support funding;
AND WHEREAS it is desirable to the membership of Orienteering New Brunswick to be an incorporated entity for the furtherance of Orienteering New Brunswick’s objectives;
BE IT RESOLVED that the membership of Orienteering New Brunswick approve and mandate that Orienteering New Brunswick be incorporated under The Companies Act, Chapter C-13;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the membership of Orienteering New Brunswick direct its President to file an application with the Director of Service New Brunswick upon such form and accompanied by such fee as may be required for the purposes of requesting letters patent to grant a charter for Orienteering New Brunswick to be constituted as a body corporate and politic as a not-for-profit Association.
